Land's End to John O'Groats Cycletouring Trip Part 2

Day 31 - Kyleakin to Lochcarron

At last I make it to the imfamous Skye bridge! It has been just short of 3 weeks that I have been on Skye, and although I have had a fantastic time and I would like very much to come back, I am pleased to be making my way again after so long in one place on this journey.

On then across the bridge, and fortunately for cyclists and pedestrians, this is free. It is a source of much local dissaproval though that the cost for a car is £5.70 each way for such a short bridge. There was a lot of demonstrations when the bridge was first constructed, and some people evade the tolls such as the tour driver from the other day.

I cycle on to Elan Donan castle where I resist the temptation to go in, but take a number of photos, just like everyone else there! It is quite an impressive sight. I move on though as

I backtrack slightly to pick up the A890 and a fair amount of bike pushing later stop at Lochcarron to take photos. There is a rough looking sky but I make it all the way round to the town of Lochcarron itself and 'The Wee Campsite' without any rain. The charge here is a mere £2 per night, and is the best value campsite with facilities of the whole trip. Free showers, free hot water, free washing machine - Stunning.

Distance travelled today was 31 miles.
