Today was County Show day, and I decided I had to stay in Kirkwall. This year was special because last years show was cancelled, and this years event promised to big bigger than normal to compensate!
I picked up a leaflet from the Tourist Information centre about traditional music on Orkney before making my way to the show ground. There was the usual mix of judging, displays and machinery with a big beer tent and fun fair.
I wander down the Ayre Hotel in the evening to listen to some traditional music, but there is some big drinking going on in celebration of the County Show so it is hard to hear.
I met a french couple who were working on an organic farm (woofing) and a biker from the campsite who I met through Simon yesterday.
We had a quick look in at the County Show dance at the Picaquoy centre before retiring back to the tents.
